Application Support Specialist - in Kuala Lumpur

We are looking for a Technical Support Engineer to provide 2nd to 3rd level technical support to our customers. This position has a regional focus on the Asia Pacific Region and is based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.


  • Provide 2nd to 3rd level technical support as well as escalated 1st level support from Sales Support to our international customers in English
  • 3rd level support may be in close cooperation with our software development team
  • Technical consultation (via ticket system, chat, phone and remote online session) about PRTG on opportunities including trial users, customers and partners
  • Participation in the feature request process, focus topics, company-wide strategic projects and initiatives as needed
  • Participation in the further development of our software products together with colleagues from development and product management
  • Intensive error analysis based on log files, screenshots and snapshots
  • Work closely with the technical support team siblings in Americas & EMEA (Paessler HQ)


  • A trained network, IT or system administrator, IT specialist or comparable background
  • "At home" in networks and a good knowledge of various switches, routers and firewalls
  • You are familiar with the configuration and operation of various server systems
  • Strong understanding of the common network protocols such as SNMP, SSH & WMI
  • Experience with network management tools and technologies such as Cisco ISE, Cisco Prime, Wireshark, NetFlow Analyzers
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, WINS, SNMP, Active Directory, SSL, IIS, SQL, WSUS
  • In the best case, you also have experience with IoT, products such as VMware, Cisco IOS, NetApp, Microsoft Windows Server, Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure and are well versed in scripting such as Perl, Python & PowerShell
  • An investigative solution to network connectivity issues is a welcome challenge for you
  • Must be fluent in English language. Knowledge of Japanese, Mandarin and/or Korean is a big plus
  • Customer orientation and ability to adapt/respond to different types of characters
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage time effectively
  • It is easy for you to empathize with the daily challenges of our customers
  • You are happy to be part of a virtual team where communication is predominantly online as well as working in a cross-team environment in Kuala Lumpur.
  • You are willing to travel twice a year to the HQ for each 2-3 weeks (after COVID-19)
  • Permanent residents in Malaysia only
