Vice President Product Management, 1. image

We are hiring a Vice President of Product Management to own product management and user experience for PRTG, the core of Paessler's business. This leader will set the product direction, run the product organization day to day, and drive PRTG's transformation into an AI-powered product that changes how our customers operate their networks and IT systems.
This is a hands-on operating role, not a delegate-and-review role. The right candidate writes and reviews user stories with their team, tracks work through the development process, resolves priority conflicts within days rather than weeks, and uses the product regularly. They will lead teams based in Europe and must know how to run a high-performing remote product organization across time zones.

This role reports directly to the Chief Product Officer and works in close partnership with Engineering, go-to-market leadership, and our PE sponsors.

YOUR TASKS

What You Will Build and Own

Product Management for PRTG

  • Own the PRTG product roadmap end to end, from strategy through backlog, across on-premises and hosted delivery models
  • Lead and develop the product management team: hiring, coaching, and raising the bar on craft, rigor, and customer understanding
  • Review and create user stories with your team, ensuring requirements are specific, testable, and tied to customer outcomes
  • Track progress through the full development process and hold teams accountable for scope, quality, and dates
  • Resolve conflicts across competing priorities quickly and make trade-off decisions with clear rationale

Disruptive AI Experience

  • Define and deliver an AI experience in PRTG that changes how customers monitor, troubleshoot, and operate their IT and OT environments, moving them from reactive alerting to proactive, assisted operations
  • Translate emerging AI capabilities into shipped product: agentic workflows, natural-language interaction, automated root-cause analysis, and remediation
  • Set the quality, trust, and data-handling standards our customers require for AI features, including customers in regulated and air-gapped environments
  • Partner with Engineering on the platform investments needed to deliver AI features across both on-premises and hosted deployments

User Experience

  • Own the UX function for PRTG, including research, design, and usability standards
Build a customer feedback engine: usage analytics, voice-of-customer synthesis, and structured research that feeds directly into roadmap decisions
  • Drive measurable improvements in time-to-value, task completion, and customer satisfaction across the product

Data-Driven Operations and Executive Communication

  • Instrument the product and the product organization: adoption metrics, funnel data, release health, and team velocity
  • Use data as the default basis for prioritization and investment decisions, and expect the same from your team
  • Communicate proactively with the executive leadership team and the board: clear status, honest risk assessment, and options with recommendations rather than surprises

What Success Looks Like

  • Within the first 90 days: full command of the PRTG roadmap, direct working relationships with every product and UX team member, and a documented view of the top priority conflicts with decisions made
  • AI capabilities shipping on schedule and adopted by customers, with measurable impact on how they operate their environments
  • A product organization that writes sharp user stories, ships predictably, and resolves priority conflicts without escalation
  • UX metrics defined and reportable: activation, task success, and customer satisfaction
  • Executive team and board confidence in product execution, backed by data they see before they ask for it

Leadership Scope

This role leads the product management and UX teams for PRTG, based in Europe. The VP of Product Management works closely with the CPO, CTO, engineering leadership, and go-to-market teams, and represents product execution to the executive team and PE sponsors. Willingness to travel to Europe on a regular cadence and to hold significant overlap with Central European working hours is required.

YOUR PROFILE

  • 15+ years in product management for B2B software, with 10+ years leading product teams, ideally in IT infrastructure, networking, monitoring, observability, or security
  • Experience shipping both on-premises software and hosted / SaaS products is a must
Track record of delivering AI or ML-driven product capabilities that customers adopted at scale
  • Extensive experience leading remote, distributed teams, ideally across US and European time zones
  • Hands-on and detail-oriented: comfortable in the backlog, in user stories, and in the product itself almost daily
  • Strong command of product analytics and the discipline to let data drive decisions
  • Proven ability to communicate with executive leadership and boards: concise, proactive, and grounded in evidence
  • Experience owning or partnering closely with UX and design functions
  • Fluent in English (both spoken and written)
